Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped finely
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 800 g beef mince
  • 2 stalks celery, cubed
  • 1 large carrot, cubed or grated
  • 1 medium zucchini, cubed or grated
  • 3/4 cup red wine
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 500g penne or fusilli pasta
  • 2x 750 g bottles of tomato passata
  • 1 cup of water
  • Grated Parmesan to garnish

Method

  1. Plug the power chord into the appliance and set the temperature to high (have all of your ingredients ready as cooking is fast!)
  2. Once frypan is hot, add the olive oil and brown the onions for two minutes whilst stirring. Add the garlic and continue browning for another minute.
  3. Move the onions and garlic to one side of the frypan and add the beef mince. Brown for 3-4 minutes then mix it all together.
  4. Add the veggies, spices and red wine and continue stirring for another 2 minutes. Now add the milk and brown for another minute or so.
  5. Add the pasta, passata and water and give it all a good mix.
  6. Cover the frypan with the glass lid and lower the temperature to low. Cook on low for another 15-20 minutes stirring the pasta occasionally.
  7. When cooking is complete, turn off the appliance. Serve the pasta bolognese in bowls and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese (drizzle with a little bit more olive oil if you wish).
